The Galveston County Organized Crime Task Force executed 21 search warrants Wednesday afternoon in Hitchcock as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged gambling operations, authorities said.
The warrants were served about 3 p.m. at 20 locations believed to be operating unlawful gambling establishments within the city, according to law enforcement.
Investigators also served a warrant at the city of Hitchcock in connection with the city’s regulatory role involving permits, employee records and inspections related to the businesses under investigation.
Residents were advised to expect an increased law enforcement presence in the area as the operation continued.
Personnel from the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, along with multiple assisting agencies, participated in executing the warrants.
Authorities didn't immediately release information on arrests, seizures or potential charges.
The investigation remains active, and additional details are expected to be released as they become available.
